ICE SKATE FITTING ADVICE
HOCKEY STYLE SKATES---------------------------------------------The general sizing advice with Hockey Style skates, is to buy your SHOE SIZE, OR UP TO HALF A SIZE BIGGER than shoe size. Unlike inline skates (Rollerblades), hockey style skates do not have an inner sock ,so its pretty much like buying a pair of shoes. If you buy them too big you may find that they rub alot and cause blisters. In the United States, they size their skates differently to the UK. The U.S has whats called a skate size ,as well as a shoe size , so pay no attention to sizing advice on American sites. FIGURE SKATES-----------------------------------------------Figure skates are usually narrower than hockey style skates and taper at the toe area. Generally people buy their shoe size or half a size bigger. But if you have wide feet you may want to go a little bigger. Edea skates are ideal for people with wide feet.RECREATIONAL SKATES------------------------------------------------Please see the description on the particular skate your looking at, as sizing often varies greatly between different brands.BLADE GUARDS-----------------------------------------------Blade guards do not come with any brand of skate, so we strongly advise you to purchase blade guards to protect the edges of your blades. In the long run this will save you money on sharpening, as well as allow you to walk around the ice rink without having to take your skates off.
